There may come a time when you need additional reassurance regarding a health concern, diagnosis or recommendation of treatment.

If that happens, we can help with a patient-led service that puts you first.

Sometimes, patients can feel awkward about seeking a second opinion while maintaining their ongoing relationship with their NHS GP, or continuing treatment at an NHS hospital. We’re here to put your mind at rest. There’s no problem at all in getting a second opinion and no one’s going to mind you doing so.

To help us give you the best possible advice, we’ll ask you to provide us with any relevant information you can relating to your diagnosis or treatment prior to your consultation. This will include any test results you have, particularly if yours is a complex case.

Next we’ll either organise diagnostic tests and checks, or refer you to one of our network of expert consultants if required.

Rest assured, while we usually recommend that information and treatment plans generated from second opinions are shared with your current medical team, we will always ask your permission before doing so.

Frequently asked questions

There are several reasons why you might consider seeking a second opinion:

  • You’re worried you haven’t received the correct diagnosis
  • You don’t feel your current doctor has answered all your questions
  • You don’t fully understand the information you’ve been given
  • You’re not happy with the treatment you’ve been recommended
  • You’d like to discuss other potential treatments

You can get a second opinion at any time in your patient journey, even if you’ve started treatment.

No. You don’t need a referral from your current GP for us to provide you with a second opinion or to review your situation.

If you have a question you can’t see here, or if you’d like to talk to a member of the team, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’re here to help.
